She was the beloved wife of the late John J. "Toppy" Mascherino; whom she married in June of 1946 and shared 37 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1990.
The youngest of eight children, Alice was born on March 17, 1926 in Downingtown to the late Emile and Margaret Moran Ceulers.
She was a 1944 graduate of Downingtown High School.
Alice was a homemaker, who had a strong devotion and worked relentlessly for the care and support of her special needs daughter, Judy Anne. She also worked for the Downingtown Borough Hall in the 1970s.
She was a life long member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown.
Alice and her husband were avid Notre Dame Football fans. They were members of the Notre Dame fan club and would travel the country to watch them play.
She enjoyed being an armchair politician, reading and gardening.
Mrs. Mascherino is survived by her children, Stephen J., and his wife, Ann, and Gregory J. and his wife, Kathleen, all of Downingtown, and Judith Anne of the Martha Lloyd School in Troy; sisters, Florence Ceulers of Coatesville, Jane Miller of Red Hill, and Catherine "Patty" Bowman and her husband, Louis, of Downingtown; and four grandchildren, Douglas, and his wife, Liz, Curtis, Stephanie and Gregory.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Louise, Violet Old and Margaret Gillespie, and brother, Robert Ceulers.
An evening visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6-8 P.M. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown. Family and friends are invited to call prior to Mass from 9:15-10:30 A.M. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
